Hola Y'all! (And Happy August 1st!)
On Monday night I got a call from my Mission President saying I was actually getting transferred to Lake Travis in Austin, and Hermana Hale would be the one staying in Lockhart and receiving a new companion. I had an hour that night to pack and then the next morning we drove about 45 minutes to meet up with my new companions (Hermana McCarty and Hermana McMurray)....Yep I'm back in a TRIO (for this week at least)!
Hermana McCarty is from Kansas City Missouri and is going home on August 8th! She is almost done with her mission! Hermana McMurray is from Preston Idaho and she has been out in the mission the same amount of time that I have. They are great sisters and I'm so glad to be companions with them and can't wait to see the miracles in this area!
I will miss Lockhart so much and the people there will forever hold a special place in my heart! Also I know Hermana Hale will continue to see miracles happen in Lockhart with her new companion! I will miss her!
Tuesday night, once we arrived in Lake Travis, we went and had dinner with The Cammacks. Brother Cammack told us his conversion story and it was great! They gave us a referral of someone we could go talk to, which is always an exciting thing for the missionaries! We went and tried to contact this person that they had mentioned but she wasn't home (next time hopefully). Then we went by a couple of our less active members homes. We had a really good lesson with Sister Ormand about the temple and family history work, which me and Hermana Hale taught a Relief Society lesson on a couple weeks ago, so I was super excited to talk about it with her and share more of what I learned!
Wednesday morning we went to Yoga with one of our members. Hermana McMurray has to go to yoga for physical therapy for her hip twice a week so we get to do it with her! Its great! We get to go on Mondays and Wednesdays for an hour. Then we had a lesson with Herminio Rojas and taught him about the importance of attending church. He expressed to us that he works on Sunday's and so that's why it has been hard for him to be able to come to church. He knows he needs to come though and he loves reading the Book of Mormon. For now he is the only one in his family that we are meeting with, but soon we hope to be able to meet more with the whole family! He said he would come to church on Sunday so we were crossing our fingers and praying lots!
Thursday we all got really sick and were stuck in the apartment almost all day. We all stayed in bed for awhile and couldn't move! It was the weirdest thing. We must have eaten something weird that got us all sick. That night we went and ate with the Brunson family and made homemade pizza with them. They have two sets of twins and there such an awesome family! After dinner we stopped by a potential investigator's house, Pricila Garcia, we knocked on her door and she let us right in. We taught her the restoration and it was amazing! She told us that she has been looking for a church to join and has been lost for awhile in her life and she had prayed for a change to happen the night before, and then that we had happened to show up the next day (Miracle)! She was so excited and believed it was because God lead us to her (which he did)!! We gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read some chapters in it. We also invited her to come to church on Sunday and she said she would be there!
Friday we were feeling much better! We had district meeting that morning and then we went to the Polakowski's house and helped them paint the inside of their house. We spent a good two and a half hours there with their family. That was a lot of fun and I loved getting to help and serve them!
On Sunday we went to church and guess who came?!? Pricila Garcia and Herminio! Both our investigators (miracle)! We were so excited! Herminio sat by us so we could translate for him. That was really hard but the gift of tongues is real (hopefully he could understand us for the most part). Pricila speaks both Spanish and English so she could understand, and we found out that she's friends with one of the members from our ward, which was so exciting to see her already have fellowship within the ward! I'm back in an English ward which is different because I'm used to serving in a really small Spanish/English branch. We are trying to get Spanish translation in our ward so our Spanish investigators will be able to understand! On Sunday night after dinner we were driving and decided to pull over and walk around down by the lake to try and meet some new people! The people here are so nice and so far have been willing to listen to our message. This week has been good so far in this area and I can't wait to help it grow and find those who are prepared!
I recently learned an acronym for a successful missionary and I love it! So I thought to share it.
