Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

Howdy y'all,

Well folks it's been 5 months on the mission!..... Where did all the
time go!!!  I hope y'all had a great 4th of July!  It was a little
different for me because I didn't get to see any fireworks this year,
but we spent our 4th of July talking with some amazing people and we
also had family night with RJ, his dad, and his aunt!
Something amazing happened this week!  On Monday one of my past
companions (Hermana Newman) emailed me and told me that one of our
investigators that we had been teaching was getting baptized on
Thursday (Ashley)!  She also mentioned that her brother was going to
be baptized as well (Alex).  I was so happy when I found this out!
I tried to be able to go to the baptism but things just didn't work out,
but I did get to Skype their family right before the baptism and it was
so great to get to talk to them!  The mom is a member and has been for a while.
The dad is of another faith and for awhile didn't want his kids to be baptized into this church.
Well after lots of prayers and fasting his heart was softened and he
finally let them be baptized after many years of missionaries asking!
God is really preparing those who are ready to receive us!
We had another lesson with Primitivo Hernandez this week.  In our
previous lesson with him we gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and
invited him to read the introduction.  When we followed up with him in
this lesson he told us that he had read the whole first part of the
book (the introduction, the testimonies of the 3, 8 witnesses, and
Joseph Smith's Testimony).  He told us he believes it all to be true
and when we told him about there being a prophet today to lead and
guide this church his eyes lit up!  He got so excited!  We taught him
more and invited him to church on Sunday!
On Saturday we decided to walk instead of ride our bikes.
We walked about 6 hours in the blazing hot sun, but it was so worth it!
We were able to have a lesson with RJ right before he headed off to
scout camp with the Young Men this week, and his dad was able to
participate in the lesson!  We also met with some of our less actives
and met some other really great people!  That night we had dinner with
Sister Whitman and her family.  There family is musically talented and
they have Ukuleles!!!  Sister Whitman and myself and sister Hale sang "How
can I be", and myself and Sister Whitman played the Ukuleles!  It was a lot
of fun and then we were able to share a message with their family!
Sunday morning came and guess who we saw at church?!  Primitivo!  We
were so excited to see him and he was so excited to be there to learn
more!  We can't wait to visit him again tonight and teach him more!
That afternoon we went to Gonzales and met with some people that we
had planned to go by.  We visit taught one of our members Sister Lopez
and got to know her better.  She is so cute and so sweet!

Before I write a novel of an email I do want to share a little bit of
what our message is to those of you who want to know more about what
we do as missionaries.

Our message is remarkable and simple. God is our Father. We are His
children. We are part of His family. He loves us. From the beginning
of the world, He has followed a pattern of love and concern. Many
times He has reached out in love to reveal the gospel of Jesus Christ
so that His children can know how to return to Him. He revealed it to
prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. But people have
repeatedly chosen to reject that gospel. Two thousand years ago, Jesus
Christ Himself taught His gospel and established His Church, and
accomplished the Atonement. Incredibly, people even rejected Jesus.
Whenever people disregard or distort true doctrines and ordinances,
God withdraws His authority to administer the Church.
Our invitation to all people is to add to the truths they already
treasure. Considering our evidence that our Heavenly Father and His
Son, Jesus Christ, have again reached out to God’s children in love
and revealed the fullness of the gospel to a prophet. This prophet’s
name is Joseph Smith. The evidence of this glorious truth is found in
a book, The Book of Mormon, which everyone everywhere can read,
ponder, and pray about. If you pray with a sincere heart, with real
intent and faith in Christ, God will tell you by the power of the Holy
Ghost that it is true!

I know this message is true!  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is now
restored on the earth again today!  Joseph Smith was and always will
be a prophet of God!  The Book of Mormon is true!  I can't emphasize
that enough!  I have paid the price to know that it is true!  I have
prayed and received an answer. Jesus Christ is our Savior and
Redeemer!  He loves you all so much.  We are all literally sons and
daughters of our Heavenly Father.  He has a plan for each and every
one of us!  I hope y'all know how much you mean to Him and to those
around you!

I love y'all so much!  Be safe and have a good week!

Con Amor,
Hermana Mann
